In May, we visited Ocean Maya Royale for the 22nd time. We were joined by my mom and Rich as well as my friend Laura. This would my mom's 6th visit, Rich's 3rd and Laura's 1st visit to OMR!
We started off the trip with breakfast and a few drinks at two lounges at the Cleveland airport.
Not only did we celebrate Mother's Day (May 8) and my mom's 76th birthday (May 9), but we also celebrated Mexico's Mother's Day (May 10)! It was the perfect trifecta. I'm not sure we'll be able to keep my mom away in May for year's to come.
Our English friends, Rob & Sue Matthews, were staying at the sister resort down the road and were able to purchase a day pass to join us for dinner on our second night.
Rob coordinated for a nice birthday cake for my mom. She was spoiled rotten and loved every minute!
Steve and I took on the responsibility of getting chairs and an umbrella by the pool every morning (marked with our signature Cavs shirts, of course). This typically meant a 6 am wake-up, followed by a walk on the beach and then up to the lobby bar for Bloody Maria's with Don Julio Reposado. This is quite possibly my favorite part of every day.
We all met nearly every morning for coffee or Bloody Mary's in the courtyard before heading to breakfast.
Steve and I enjoyed breakfast most days in the Privilege lounge. In addition to the a la carte menu, they had a new little buffet during this trip where I would grab some fruit and rolls.
We were also joined by our friend Ed Cook (again!) for his 21st stay at the resort.
Every night before dinner, we met in the courtyard for drinks, then proceeded to the sports bar for a few dozen wings...before all meeting for dinner. Table for 6 please!
Obligatory photo opportunity with our picture on the Wall of Fame! This never gets old :)
Our friends Barbie and Rocky were also there during our stay. We've met them several times at OMR over the years. Collectively, me, Barbie, and Ed have been to OMR 68 times!
After dinner, we spent time back in the courtyard with drinks, a show and lots of laughs and conversation. It was an overall great time!
OMR is such a great place for us and we love bringing family and friends along. Visit #22 was a great success and we look forward to the next time...because there is always a next time!
Cheers!
