2011 Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving is arguably my favorite holiday because it encompasses so many of favorite things, including family, food and football. For the second straight year, I found it appropriate to add a five mile race to the start of my day.

The 30th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is a race that runs five miles around downtown Cleveland with about 7,000 runners. It’s a great way to begin a gluttonous day and although it was chilly at the start, it ended up being a very comfortable run. The 2011 race had the largest turnout which resulted in a very crowded race, but I was happy to finish in 50:42.

Following the race, Steve and I hurried home…gulped down our traditional post-race celebratory mimosa, then headed over to Sean and Alex’s as they hosted their very FIRST Thanksgiving dinner. We were joined by the Evans’ family, Dad, Berneda, Mom, Rich and my brother Travis. As usual, the food was spectacular with tons and tons of leftovers. It was a lazy day complete with so many of my favorite things :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
