The Island of Bonaire | August 2025

Bonaire is the kind of place that quietly pulls you into a slower rhythm. This was our eighth time on the island, and it feels familiar in the best possible way...comfortable, easy, and instantly grounding.

We traveled with Bill and Sarah, rented a Moke, stayed oceanfront at Villa Kokopelli, and quickly settled into days that felt effortless. Mornings out, afternoons by the pool, and evenings shaped by sunsets and great food.

Where We Stayed: Villa Kokopelli

Villa Kokopelli in the El Pueblo Villas development became our anchor for 10 beautiful days. With sweeping ocean views and plenty of space to slow down, it was the perfect home base. Quiet mornings with coffee and bloody Mary's, easy afternoons by the pool, and a place we always looked forward to returning to at the end of the day.

Getting Around: Moke Life

Renting a Moke made exploring Bonaire half the fun. Salty wind in your hair and no pressure to be anywhere quickly. It is the perfect way to get around the island.

Our Daily Routine: Jibe City (On Repeat)

Nearly every morning started the same way...Jibe City, a bucket of beers, and watching the windsurfers glide across the water. We went early, lingered longer than planned, and never once thought about changing it.

One Morning Meant a Little More

One morning we traded our usual routine for something a little different, volunteering with the local sea turtle conservation group. Walking the beach early, learning about the nests, and helping protect something so much bigger than ourselves was a quiet reminder of how special Bonaire really is. It was just a few hours, but it stayed with us.

Exploring Bonaire

Some of our favorite moments were unplanned...quiet beaches, Cargill's pink salt pans, pink flamingos, wild donkeys, snorkeling with stingrays and turtles, and stretches of shoreline that felt like we had them to ourselves.

Afternoons by the Pool

Afternoons always brought us back home...pool time, something simple to snack on, and no real agenda.

Evenings: Sunsets, Cocktails & Great Meals

Evenings followed a routine we loved...cocktails at sunset, then one great meal after another. Bonaire is constantly surprising us with just how good the food scene really is, and every night felt like a small celebration of the day we just had.

Bonaire is a place that's difficult to describe...and it has a way of slowing you down in the best possible way.

Already planning for the next time...
